Madison M. Weiss, MA
Professional Counselor Associate
Hello! My name is Madison.
I came to therapy many moons ago in my youth, as I tried to sort out my life and find meaning. Between art and psychotherapy, I credit both of them, to not only saving my life, but allowing me to learn to live authentically, embracing life so I may receive so many of its gifts.
As a Queer and Neurodivergent individual, I live with my partner of 26 years. I work with LGBTQIA+ clients, Neurodivergent clients, and anyone—regardless of race, sexuality, or gender—who seeks to create meaningful change in their lives. I especially enjoy working with creatives and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
My work is relational and grounded in helping clients navigate challenges such as dysphoria, PTSD, anxiety, loss, and depression. Whether you’re embarking on a career change or grappling with emotions that need clarity and understanding, I will follow your lead. Together, we’ll walk a collaborative path toward healing.
As a practitioner, I take an eclectic and thoughtful approach, drawing from theories that best support each client’s unique needs. I’m always person-centered and incorporate cognitive modalities when appropriate. If you’d like to explore creative modalities in our work together, they are always available—though never required.
Education and Training
Before earning my BA in Clinical Psychology and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University New England, I worked in Special Education in Los Angeles for 16 years.
My theoretical background is rooted in psychodynamic approaches, including Gestalt, Jungian, and Object Relations therapies. I also trained as an Art Therapy Practitioner in Victoria, Canada. With a strong background in the arts, I enjoy integrating creative modalities into counseling, as I believe they complement and enhance traditional talk therapy.
